Enrolment

If you are interested in finding out more about Woodleigh School please call to arrange a time to meet with our principal and view the school.

ENROLMENT

Enrolment at Woodleigh School is governed by an enrolment scheme approved by the Ministry of Education. The enrolment scheme details our school’s home zone. All students who live within the home zone are entitled to attend Woodleigh School. A description of the home zone is available from the school office.

ENROLMENT PROCESS

In the year leading up to your child’s fourth birthday please contact the school office to pre enrol. Your child’s name will be added to the Woodleigh School pre entry register. This helps us to plan classes for the year ahead.

At least six months before your child turns five please complete an enrolment form available from the school office. When returning the form we will need to see your child’s birth certificate, immunisation records and proof of residential address.

OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENTS

Once a year the Board of Trustees will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone.

Applications can be made by way of completing an enrolment form available from the school office. If there are more applicants than there are places available, selection within priority groups will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under section 4 of the Education Amendment Act 2000 (2000 No 21).

TRANSITION TO SCHOOL

Your child will be invited to attend transition to school classes and will then have visits to their future classroom and meet the teacher prior to their fifth birthday. During this time an appointment will be made for you to meet the principal to complete the enrolment process. You will also be invited to attend a new entrant parent meeting during the term prior to your child starting school.
